Audition Masterclass

The CPAL audition workshop will cover the basics of auditioning, what to expect, and how to make that all important first impression.

Topics Covered

Donna Roth will be covering the role of the stage manager, proper etiquette for the audition and what to wear.

Stephanie Behr will be covering vocal auditioning, choosing your song, and delivering the song.  An accompanist will be on site to cover how to work with a pianist, what to say to them to communicate what you want for your song.  Shannon Schneider will be the accompanist.  Most auditions will be done with a accompanist, not a CD player.

Dawn Wilson will handle the dance audition section and what to expect in a real audition, some basic dance steps and run through a basic dance audition.  She will also cover what to do if you can't dance.

Jim Burton will be dealing with the acting portion of the audition.  This section will cover how to choose audition material, how to project, when to audition, what happens in a callback, and how to take direction during an audition.

There will be a 'audition' for this audition workshop.  On July 8th, between 7:00 and 9:00,  actors participating in the workshop will be asked to come to the Bethany United Methodist Church in Liberty Township to be videotaped auditioning.  This will be reviewed by the workshop staff to judge the current state of the actor's talents.

The workshop will take place on July 17th from 10 - 4 at the Bethany UMC.  The cost per participant is $100.00.  More information at 844-2817.
